Google Play Pass: Everything you need to know about it

Google Play Pass: Everything you need to know about it

Majority of Android users access the apps they use off the Google Play Store, given the freedom it comes with and the numerous lot readily available. However, despite being free, most of these apps display annoying ads and lack so many features that a user would have interest in.

To counter this, you can now utilize Google Play Pass – a monthly subscription service that allows you exclusive access to a variety of games and other apps on the Play Store. The service is now official and it costs $4.99 for you to get any of more than 350 apps and games.

Google says the service shall go further to include other types of apps such as health, fitness, photography, photo retouching, weather and camera apps.

Why Google Play Pass?

The new service does away with ads, in-app purchases and any paywalls that you would find with the normal apps on the Store. For starters, there is a promotion that lets people pay $1.99 per month for the first year that includes a free trial for up to 10 days. Additionally, you will be able to share your Play Pass subscription with up to five family members.

How to use Google Play Pass

When you open your Google Play app, you should be able to see a new tab with a ticket logo in it. Once your app is up to date, tapping the menu at the top left, and looking for Play Pass is as good as done for you.

The page specifically includes featured apps and any available recommendations for the service. Google plans to share subscription revenue with app developers, but did not detail exactly how the money would be split.

Google Play Pass is more like the search engine’s answer to Apple’s Arcade service which launched a little earlier and also costs the same – $4.99. The key difference between the two is that while Google focuses on various apps in its service, Apple’s is strictly on games and has about 100 already available.

In the US, Google is now letting users sign up for an annual subscription at $29.99. The Play Pass service is also rolling out in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

How to Format Laptop Windows 7/8/10 (2020 Update)

How to Format Laptop Windows 7/8/10 (2020 Update)

When some stubborn viruses enter your computer, if you can’t eliminate these Trojan viruses, you can format the computer. Or you can do it when there is too much stuff on computer. But how to format the computer? Here’s a look at the simplest methods to format a laptop Windows 7/8/10.

How to Format Laptop Windows 7/8/10

It was a hard decision to format a laptop running on Windows 7 because you can’t keep user data and have to reinstall or reactivate the OS and programs, which is not friendly to newbies. In Windows 10, however, you can format a laptop like you usually do on a smartphone. That’s to say, you will remove the system errors while having important user data intact. If you really need to format a laptop Windows 7, today it is also very easy and cheap to make a bootable USB drive to reinstall the system before you back up Windows computer files to an external hard drive.

Tips: If you can’t access a hard disk or lose important files due to formatting or deletion, don’t hesitate to use RePicvid Data Recovery Software, which will help you recover deleted pictures from computer 100% free as well as other files from more storage devices.

Solution 1. Format Laptop Windows 10 with Reset this PC

The methods for formatting Windows computers are various, but when it comes to Windows 10, the process is quite decent. The whole procedure of formatting Windows 10 is undergoing with friendly interface and step-by-step guide.

  • Step 1. Click Start menu on bottom left corner, then click the gear icon to open Settings.
  • Step 2. On Settings home page, select Update & Security, then click Recovery tab from the left panel.
Format Laptop Windows 10 with Reset this PC
  • Step 3. Check available options:
    • Reset this PC: This is exactly the option that we need, but you should also check other ones which may be able to fix some issues on Windows 10.
    • Advanced startup: There will have a lot of sub-options, such as start up from a bootable USB drive, change Windows startup settings, or restore from a system image.
    • More recovery options: Start fresh with a clean installation of Windows.
    • Back up your files: Backup your files to another drive.
  • Step 4. Click Get started button under Reset this PC, then you will see two options:
Format Laptop Windows 10 with Reset this PC
    • Keep my files: remove apps and settings, but keep your personal files.
    • Remove everything: remove all of your personal files, apps and settings.
  • Step 5. Complete erasing of data.
While proceeding towards the formatting process of the computer, you will receive two options: Just remove my files and Remove files and clean my drive after clicking on “Remove everything” option.

    • Just remove my files allows the user to recover the media and files from the drive of the computer. If the user is selling his computer or giving it to anyone else for use, then the data is in danger as the third person can easily recover all the files and data from the drive. This makes this option less secure and risky.
    • Remove files and clean my drive is time-consuming but completely safe. It erases all the data from the system thoroughly including the drive. However, the system takes some time to remove all the data from the drive.
  • Step 6. Click Next when the operating system asks for confirmation, then choose Reset button.
The Windows 10 computer will start the reset process by restarting the computer automatically. You need to wait until the reset process gets finished which may vary from a few minutes to hours, then your PC will get started with fresh Windows 10.

Solution 2. Format Laptop Windows 7 with System Repair Disc

  • Step 1. Start your laptop and click Control Panel > Backup and Restore > Create a system repair disc.
  • Step 2. Insert a CD into your laptop and click “Create disc”. Then select “Close” and “OK”.
  • Step 3. Type F10 or F12 to enter the boot menu and select the CD as boot device. Click “Enter” and “Next”, then select your windows system in “Use recovery tools that can help fix problems starting Windows”.
  • Step 4. Click “Next” and “Command Prompt”. Enter “Format c:/fs:NTFS” and start to format your system disk.
Format Laptop Windows 7 with System Repair Disc

Solution 3. Format Laptop with Windows Installation USB/CD (Windows 7/8/10)

  • Step 1. Press “Delete” to enter the BIOS when starting your laptop. Select “Advanced BIOS Features” and set the First Boot Device to CDROM. Click Y to save and exit setup.
  • Step 2. Insert the Windows installation USB or CD into your laptop, and then enter “DOS”.
  • Step 3. Type “format C:/” in the DOS prompt and enter Y to complete formatting.
  • Step 4. After formatting, insert your own Windows 7/8/10 system disk (CD boot) and follow the instructions to install.
Format Laptop with Windows Installation USB/CD

Solution 4. Format Laptop Without Windows Installation USB/CD

  • Step 1. Start your computer, then press F8 or F11 before Windows loads.
  • Step 2. Click “Next” to enter System Recovery. There are two options for choose. If you have already backed data up, a Destructive Recovery will help you get a brand-new laptop.

Jobberman, Mastercard to place 3 million Nigerians in employment by 2025

Jobberman, Mastercard to place 3 million Nigerians in employment by 2025

Jobberman, the single largest online job placement and training website in sub-Saharan Africa, has partnered with the Mastercard Foundation to tackle unemployment in Nigeria. The partnership aims to train 5 million job seekers and place 3 million in dignified employment over the next five years.

Jobberman and Mastercard Foundation also plan to train 200,000 job seekers and place 120,000 in dignified employment by the end of this year. The partnership will impact young people living in the North, of which 70 percent will be young women.

The most recent data from the National Bureau of Statistics puts the combined unemployment and underemployment rates in Nigeria at 43.3 percent – a figure that will almost certainly be exacerbated by the impact of COVID-19. More than 60 percent of young women are unemployed and more than one in four (25.9 percent) of women in the labour force are underemployed. According to the World Bank, there is also increasing inequality in Nigeria between the North and the South.

In partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, Jobberman aims to provide Nigerian job seekers with the skills they will need to enhance their chances of securing work in an overcrowded job market, as well as place them in dignified work.

Training will be focused on soft skills such as emotional intelligence, business etiquette and time management, and will be delivered online and offline for people with limited access to the internet. The partnership will involve community leaders as well as other key decision-makers, and trained candidates will be placed via Jobberman’s employer partnerships.

In Nigeria, the Mastercard Foundation’s Young Africa Works strategy aims to enable 10 million young Nigerians, especially young women to access dignified and fulfilling work by 2030. Since the launch of the soft-skills training program, 16,000 youngsters have successfully been placed in dignified work between April and June, which is a 78% increase from the 9,000 placed during the same period in 2019.

Young Africa Works will be implemented in Lagos, Kano, and Kaduna. As a partner in this initiative, Jobberman Nigeria will establish a baseline of the state of employability of young Nigerians by conducting a skills gap analysis of the labour market in Agriculture, Digital, and the Creative Industries sectors, cultivating employability skills through training centres, online classes/webinars, career fairs, and events. It will then place jobseekers in various roles across the Agriculture, Digital, and Creative Industries among others.

Jobberman already has a number of companies on board for this 10-year plan; however, it is also looking to engage with more employers interested in hiring talent to increase work productivity and alleviate the strains of unemployment in Nigeria.

According to Hilda Kragha, CEO of Jobberman Nigeria, “We are delighted to be working with the Mastercard Foundation and community leaders to address the issue of unemployment in Nigeria and to play our part in providing young Nigerians with access to dignified roles, which offer a clear path to self-sustenance. Nigeria is full of talented and hardworking young people. However, the current structure of the jobs market, means many are unable to make the most of their skills and talents.  This is why it is important to join forces with key stakeholders to equip young people with the skills they need and to link them effectively to  dignified work opportunities.”

Chidinma Lawanson, Country Head, Nigeria at the Mastercard Foundation said, “Skills training is essential as advancements in technology and the changing nature of work means employers are increasingly looking for workers who have the technical and soft skills that machines are unlikely to fill, such as creativity and collaboration. We look forward to working with Jobberman to equip young people, especially young women in the North, with the skills they need to excel and connecting them with opportunities that will transform their lives and their communities.”

With over a decade in the recruitment business, Jobberman has identified soft skills as a viable asset to an employee and job seeker, especially for young people transitioning into the workplace. So far,  Jobberman has trained on average over 4,000 young people per day via Zoom and 11,000 via Telegram over a six week period and is currently the only online platform offering soft skills training for free to young people across Nigeria.

The most successful businesses today are the ones that invest in soft skills training for employees; they are growing in revenue and leading their industries. In these times of change and uncertainty, providing training content that helps employees develop their soft skills will ensure that both organizations and their employees succeed.

To sign up for the soft skills training program, go to: https://www.jobberman.com/softskills. Employers can also partner with Jobberman to hire trained participants at discounted rates by sending an email to connect@jobberman.com.

itel P36 Full review

itel P36 Full review

The itel P36 is an impressive phone coming with new attractive features you’d definitely not expect of it. At UGX 310,000, one would be forgiven for thinking the P36 would be a low-quality phone, with the usual specs of an itel device. In fact, given that the series are known for being power—horses, one would not think of a design overhaul in the making.

But, while the predecessor was good at the power though basic in design and processing, the itel P36 is a phone that we would easily recommend to someone looking for a good budget phone. So, for someone looking to spend under $100 on a really cool smartphone, is the itel P36 the right phone for you? Let’s give it a closer shot.

You might wish to look at our first impressions of the phone (HERE) before you read the full review!

itel P36 Design and Screen

The itel P36 has a 6.5-inch HD+ LCD display with a water-drop notch and 720×1600 pixel resolution. From a sincere point of view, the quality is of this is good and itel has scored a great deal here. The screen’s contrast is to where it ought to be, and the output is satisfying. Of course, like most LCD displays, it won’t give you results in direct sunlight or bright environments.

That said, the phone is entirely built well with a unique style we’ve patiently waited from itel. It boasts of a ‘Slim Unibody Design’ that easily connects with the rounded curved-edge housing. It is not a doubt that the P36 is sleek, yet compact enough to fit in your pocket as well as enable you comfortably move about with it. itel employed a Double S Line design and an AG spraying technology to give it a silk-like touch feeling.

The P36 comes with a headphone jack, space for a micro SD card, and a USB port. On the sides of the port are the speaker grills that, we can reliably say, give the required output as well as a microphone for your voice input. It also has a fingerprint sensor on the back, just close to the new camera design.

itel p36 downside

Performance and Battery Life

On top of the P36’s overall strong design and build quality, itel tries to issue a statement with the phone’s performance. Given that this phone, coming from the power series, is expected to have a strong battery powering it – you can’t expect any less from it especially for its price tag and general specifications.

The P36 has a 5,000 mAh battery – more than sufficient for a phone with a low powered processor and screen. itel promises a 3-day battery life, and we were able to hit that without much stress. In terms of screen time, we were able to get over 7 hours on a single charge. How about that?

The P36 comes with a Unisoc SC7731E 1.3GHz Quad-core processor which is the best choice for devices of this kind. It is specifically built for power-management and does a good job with the device’s audio output. We can confidently say that it does well on these two.

It comes with 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage, with room for additional space if you have a memory card. The general performance of the itel P36 is to the expectations except that we found the phone to be a little slow when opening and switching between apps.

So, if you are interested in something much faster, the phone has a 2GB version – which comes with some more internal storage and support for 4G connectivity for faster browsing. Need we mention that it costs a little more (going for UGX 420,000)?

Cameras

The itel P36’s cameras were a real surprise for us – design wise. The phone, which has a dual-camera set up on the back, was built to look like one of those iPhones released of late. Plus, to give the due credit, the photography is also decent.

itel p36 camera

It has an 8-megapixel lens plus an un-defined one on the back, as well as another 8MP on the front for selfies. We won’t go into the details of the photos and how classic they’ll look. But you can be sure to find some interesting modes and features that itel has added to the camera app. The one that we found interesting is the Short video, probably for sharing to TikTok and social media.

And just to mention it, the video quality is equally good. A few issues with speed should not be worth the worry. For the price, the itel P36 can pass as a camera phone, and a worthy challenger to its predecessors and any other cheaper phones on the market.

Usability and Value for Money

The itel P36’s 6.5-inch display is actually large but feels small. Given the well-constructed build, the phone weighs so little. This makes it the perfect choice for someone wanting a nice phone to hold without worrying about where to rest it.

Also, coming with the Go Edition of Android 9 makes it simple, and fluid to swipe about. For a minute, you can easily forget you are holding an itel device! We’ve mentioned the P36’s price tag and it shall be hard to find phones that can compete with it for price.

Should you buy the itel P36?

The itel P36 is a very impressive phone for the price. In fact, it’s now on top of the list of our favourite cheap phones on sale at the moment.

It’s an entry level smartphone, and this means that you might have to struggle with the low RAM and the lack of 4G support (if you are the kind that does a lot with a phone and wants it all done fast), but at this price and even slightly above that, most phones do. Despite these, it’s a phone that you would surely be very happy to use – and even happier when you see the price.

itel P36 unboxing and first impressions

itel P36 unboxing and first impressions

The itel P36 is the company’s brand new budget smartphone, and we’ve got the opportunity to hold and spend some time with it. This post will not only give you a better first-time look at the phone’s design, but also at its software.

On purchase, you get the phone in a bright red box definitive of the brand. When you unwrap it, you’ll find the phone, charger head, a transparent phone case, earphones, micro USB charger, and SIM eject tool.

itel p36 unboxing

From an on-looker’s point of view, the itel P36 looks more expensive than it actually is. The phone is made mostly out of plastic, but it looks like it sports glass on the back. And to be specific, the design of its back was clearly inspired by the iPhone 11, while the front side reminds us of the Infinix S4.

The P36 includes a water-drop notch on the front, with less bezels and a chin that we’ve not seen on any itel device since the brand’s inception. This lays down the red carpet for the new phone! That’s not all, the device features a 6.5-inch 1600 x 720 display, along with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. The device is powered by the Unisoc SC7731E 1.3GHz Quad-core processor, while it sports an impressive 5,000mAh battery.

itel p36 display

On the back of the phone, you will be able to find two cameras, in a rare design you might easily mistake for a flagship device. The phone sports a primary 8-megapixel, and a secondary one, in addition to a LED flash. A single 8-megapixel camera is found on the device’s front side right in the notch, and the phone includes a fingerprint scanner on the back right close to the rear cams. There’s also a facial scanning technology can unlock the phone in less than a second.

itel p36 camera

The P36 ships with Android 9 Pie, but Android Go edition of that software which is optimized for low-end devices. From the few days of usage, it is by far the best up-grade that the company has made for any of its products.

What we like about the itel P36

Well, genuinely speaking, the P36 is a big deal! Forget the past, when holding an itel phone was for those that can’t wait to ask for the price tag. This new power-horse changes times! To be precise, the P36 has everything one would need in an entry-level smartphone, yet affording to offer more for the price it comes with.

A large screen is a welcome idea for the new phone, the huge battery, much improved software, and the fact that the design is beautiful. It’s all a win!

CPU: SC7731E 1.3GHz Quad-core

Looking Forward

The itel P36 goes for UGX 310,000, which is a rather very attractive price when you consider the specifications that itel fixed in this handset. We will be testing its battery life and overall performance further over the next few days, so that we can give you the full review.

The Morning After: Is Twitter safe to use?

The Morning After: Is Twitter safe to use?

Yesterday, hackers had their day – yet again! A number of high-profile Twitter accounts were simultaneously targeted and hacked in what happened to be a ‘successful’ crypto-currency scam. Apple, Elon Musk, Joe Biden, Kim Kardashian West, Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, Barack Obama, Wiz Khalifa, Warren Buffett, MrBeast, Wendy’s, Uber, CashApp and Mike Bloomberg were among the accounts compromised.

These accounts, among others, posted a message promoting the address of a bitcoin wallet with the claim that the amount of any payments made to the address would be doubled and sent back.

It is believed that the hacker leveraged an internal Twitter admin tool to gain access to the high-profile accounts. Twitter actually confirmed that “a coordinated social engineering attack” on employees gave a hacker “access to internal systems and tools.”

How were the Twitter accounts hacked?

The entire hack is still a mystery, and no one has been pointed at as the exact suspect.

However, according to TechCrunch, a hacker who goes by the handle “Kirk” is likely to be the brain behind it and was able to generate over $100,000 in the matter of hours by gaining access to the internal Twitter tool, which they used to take control of popular Twitter accounts.

The tool appears to allow users to control access to a user’s account, including changing the email associated with the account and even suspending the user altogether.

The hacker used the tool to reset the associated email addresses of affected accounts to make it more difficult for the owner to regain control. The hacker then pushed the crypto-currency scam.

It is not clear exactly how Kirk got access to Twitter’s internal tools, but there’s a likelihood that a Twitter employee’s corporate account was hijacked. With a hijacked employee account, Kirk could make their way into the company’s internal network. As of now, it is not yet confirmed whether a Twitter employee was involved in the account takeovers.

The question we shall pose to you is: Is Twitter safe to use, anyway?

Pen Drive Recovery – Using CMD or Pen Drive File Recovery Software

FileTax is helping businesses file taxes with ease

FileTax is helping businesses file taxes with ease

While some people and businesses in Uganda would be willing to pay taxes, the cumbersome procedures make it difficult for many to comply.

This explains why the Uganda Revenue Authority, the body charged with collecting taxes on behalf of the government, is still failing to increase the country’s taxable base, despite there being a big number of people and businesses that qualify to pay taxes.

However, one technology company, FileTax, has set out to simplify and revolutionize tax payment in Uganda by helping individuals and businesses comply with their tax obligations so that they can support economic development.

Malcolm Kastiro, the FileTax founder said that the firm helps simplify tax payment through technology and offers advisory and training services on how to file their taxes better.

Katsiro said he was motivated to start the company after realizing that there is a big mandate to get as many people as possible to participate in financial services.

He noted that once a poor family is empowered on how to use money, they be inspired to scale and thus start a small business and as it grows, they have to be educated about tax matters so as to enable them comply with the taxman.

As FileTax, we are trying to show people that as much as you are spending and keeping track of your expenses, you also need to remember that there is an obligation to government to pay taxes.

Katsiro said that emphasis is put on women, given that they are the backbone of any society, know how to spend money, are always good at budgets and several are trying to start businesses but lack the necessary skills for them to manage certain aspects of their businesses, including taxes.

He noted that they are coming up with a simple way of empowering women to be able to keep abreast with the kind of taxes they need to pay and when to pay them.

Kastiro also announced that women in business have also been given an offer, where their businesses will pay UShs150,000 for a package that will enable them file taxes better, down from UShs200,000.

They will also benefit from advisory and training services on how to file their taxes better.

Technology key

FileTax is among the firms participating in the 40-days-40-FinTechs project, organised by HiPipo and in partnership with Crosslake Tech, ModusBox and Mojaloop Foundation.

The initiative seeks to enable companies to innovate solutions that facilitate cross-network financial transactions at minimal risks to enhance access to financial services.

Running for 40 days, the project has seen the participating 40 FinTechs acquire interoperable development skills to improve access to financial services, using the Mojaloop open source software.

The HiPipo CEO Innocent Kawooya applauded FileTax for the innovation, saying that filing tax has never been simple, even for some big firms.

He noted that it is important that taxation becomes an important point of discussion saying that when money becomes digital, it will become easy to visualize and also make it easy for the government to monitor.

With digital money, authorities will know the money generated by a business, payments made and the amount of tax an entity is required to pay as tax.

With this, we will have no burden as innovators and proprietors of different businesses and the government will be able to have better service provision such as good schools, health facilities and road infrastructure among other,” he said.

Kawooya added that technology has played a major role in the growth of the economy as a number of tech firms are tax compliant.

What a good way to end the first 40-days-40-FinTechs other than with an entity that speaks to regulation in terms of making sure that people pay taxes. If we want service provision, then we must all pay taxes,” Kawooya said.
