Disney+ GroupWatch allows up to seven users to watch at once, provided they all have Disney+ subscriptions. The users can control pausing, rewinding, or fast-forwarding for the rest of the party and they can react to what they’re watching with emoji. There is a small emoji button on the bottom right that lets you access these reactions.

You ought to note that you can only use the feature if you are located in an area that supports GroupWatch. For now it is only the US, but with plans to expand to other countries shortly.

How the Disney+ GroupWatch feature works

To start a GroupWatch event, follow the following steps.

Africell Angola launching in mid-2021

Africell Angola launching in mid-2021

Africell is set to launch in Angola mid-2021. The telco received its operational license mid this year by the Angolan government. The company is said to have set aside $300 billion to fund its entry into the Southern Africa country.

Angola seeks to have the operator contribute to the development of the country through the creation of over 6,000 jobs in the next 3 to 5 years. It is through this that Angolans will use Africell smartphones and devices more widely for educational, commercial and medical purposes.

Leonel Augusto, chairman of the Angolan Institute of Communication (INACOM) says, “Africell is following the procedures required to exercise its right to operate, including completing negotiations and establishing final terms. Adding, the majority of the stages were now completed and the authority is in the process of polishing details of the operational contract.

Africell’s entry into Angola brings the numbers of its markets to five while it joins two other operators Movicel and Unitel in the country that it will compete with directly. The telco is currently available in four African countries, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sierra Leone, Gambia and Uganda.

This would be an easier penetration for the company, considering Angola has only two other operators in the market. One of Africell’s strategies is introducing a cost benefit ratio to break through the market.

With the two existing dominant operators, customers suffer as they do not receive better options in terms of price and bringing competition on board would be a better deal.

Reportedly, Africell is pushing the use of existing infrastructure so that operators can save money on duplicate buildouts.

What is the new Adobe Liquid Mode and how can you use it?

What is the new Adobe Liquid Mode and how can you use it?

Adobe recently launched its new Liquid Mode, a primary step in its vision to “fundamentally change the way people consume digital documents.” This new mode uses the company’s own Sensei AI framework to understand the structure of PDFs and make them more interactive and mobile friendly.

How to use the new Adobe Liquid mode

  • Open a PDF in Acrobat Reader, after which it will check if the PDF will work with Liquid Mode or not.
  • If it is compatible then the Liquid Mode button will light up.
  • Tap the button and the file is sent to Adobe’s Document Cloud for processing.

After the process is complete, the restructured document will show up. You can tweak the font size and line spacing also.

The new Liquid Mode uses headers and structures to build a tappable table of contents, allowing you to skip from one section to another. Adobe claims that the new feature is non-destructive, which means that nothing will change in the original PDF. The company claims that it wants to bring more Sensei technology into all of its document products and services. With the help of which using PDFs will become extremely easy.

Liquid Mode is now available inside of the Adobe Acrobat Reader mobile app for iOS, Android and Chromebooks. The feature will soon be made available for desktops and browsers.

Everything you need to know about PlayStation 5

Everything you need to know about PlayStation 5

It’s a gaming season and there’s nothing to stop that – not by any chance! Having seen what Microsoft has to offer with the new Xbox Series coming up, the next generation in the PlayStation 5, the PS5, is here! Sony is also selling two versions of its console though the only thing that differentiates the two versions is the availability of a disc drive and the cost.

With the new consoles, we should expect to experience better graphics when gaming, support for high refresh rates, as well as custom SSD that offers promising loading speeds.

PlayStation 5 specifications

The console is powered by a custom eight-core AMD Zen 2 CPU and a custom AMD Radeon RDNA 2-based GPU providing 10.28 teraflops of raw graphical power. The console also uses variable frequencies on both the PS5’s CPU and GPU, pushing the graphics to run slightly faster than normal when the CPU isn’t running at peak. The SSD onboard has 825GB of storage and 5.5GB/s of throughput. Expanding the console’s storage requires you to do so with a Sony-certified M.2 SSD.

The PlayStation 5 supports up to 8K output, promises 4K graphics at up to a 120Hz refresh rate, and also supports 3D audio. The console will come with 3 USB-A ports, with one on the front and two on the back, as well as a USB-C port on the front. There’s also an Ethernet port on the back of the console and 802.11ac Wi-Fi – which we know of as Wi-Fi 5.

PS5 Games

We can confidently assume that Sony has gained success with the PlayStation 4 by selling consoles that can play first-party games from the company’s storied franchises, while supplementing these with great third-party titles. They are doing the same thing with the new PlayStation 5.

They have already announced six first-party titles that will be available on launch day, November 12th. These are:

  • Astro’s Playroom (Japan Studio) – pre-installed on PS5
  • Demon’s Souls (Bluepoint Games / Japan Studio) – $69.99
  • Destruction All Stars (Lucid Games / XDEV) – $69.99
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales – $49.99
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition – $69.99
  • Sackboy: A Big Adventure (Sumo Digital / XDEV) – $59.99

Backward compatibility

Sony says that the PS5 is “99 percent” backwards compatible with PS4 games. It is not yet clear which games aren’t backwards compatible, but 99 percent is quite good to go with. However, the fate for PS3, PS2, and PS1 games on the PS5 is still uncertain.

PlayStation 5 Price and availability

For $499.99, you can buy a PS5 with a 4K Blu-ray drive. But for $100 less, at $399.99, you can buy the Digital Edition PS5 which is thinner than the former. Both consoles launch on November 12th in the US, Japan, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea. They’ll launch on November 19th in the rest of the world – except for China where a launch date will be announced in the future.

How to set Photos app permissions in iOS 14

How to set Photos app permissions in iOS 14

The new iOS 14 is strict on user privacy and security. One key development that it comes with is the enhancement of a number of privacy features for your mobile devices. This, among others, lets you modify how to share photos with other apps you own. As you may know, most third-party apps never need total access to your photos library. But here, iOS 14 lets you easily place customized restrictions on them.

How to set Photos app permissions in iOS 14

To set permissions for the Photos app in iOS 14,

  • Go to Settings, then to Privacy, and select Photos and tap on the app for which you want to adjust access.
  • Then, Choose either of Selected Photos, All Photos, or None.

With Selected Photos, you can choose only the photos or videos you want to share with that app directly from your Camera Roll.

How to use picture-in-picture mode to watch video in iOS 14

How to use picture-in-picture mode to watch video in iOS 14

The new iOS 14 is out and Apple has quite a number of new features available to your iPhone – if you won a 6s or something newer. Among these is the support for picture-in-picture (PiP) mode, which lets you watch a video while you perform other tasks on your phone.

If you use the iPadOS, you could have  already seen this feature, but iOS 14 is the first time you can use the picture-in-picture mode on the iPhone. For starters, the picture-in-picture mode works with video from apps like Safari, iTunes, Podcasts, Home, and FaceTime. But these are not all, we expect more in the future. Apple has a PiP API for iOS developers, and it’s up to independent developers to support PiP in their own apps.

How to enable picture-in-picture mode in iOS 14

The picture-in-picture mode is enabled by default. However, to turn it on or off entirely:

  • Go to Settings
  • Then go on to General
  • Then to Picture in Picture
  • And then select Start PiP Automatically.

If you have a video playing on your iPhone and swipe up from the bottom of the screen or press the Home button on older phones, whatever app you switch to, the video will pop up in its own window and continue playing.

You have the ability, as the video plays, to reposition or resize it with a pinch to zoom gesture. While in Picture-in-Picture mode, you can continue to control playback by pausing or moving backward or forward to view the part you want, and also tap a control to go full screen .

If you no longer want to view the video it’s easy to get rid of it. Just tap the X at the top left of the video window to close the video, or swipe the video to either side of the screen and it will disappear as the audio continues to play. A small tab lets you drag the video back to your screen.

How to use picture-in-picture mode to play YouTube videos in Mobile Safari

You would be sure that YouTube is the first app to make use of the PiP feature on the iPhone. However, the mode is not operative yet. But, you can still view YouTube via PiP by accessing your selected video within Apple’s Safari browser.  Here’s how:

  • Launch your YouTube app and play a video. Tap the Share button and then tap the Copy Link icon.
  • Launch the Safari app on your iPhone and paste the link in the URL bar.
  • Tap the play button to start playing the video. YouTube’s media player automatically gets replaced by Apple’s video player.
  • Tap the Full Screen icon so the video plays in its own window.
  • Tap the PiP button at the top of the screen.
  • Go back to the Home screen and launch any other app you want as the video continues to play on the screen.
